No doubt, healthy hair is our crowning glory. So why not try and make your hair look and feel as good as possible? Hair that has been permed or dyed looks dull, fragile and lifeless. The same thing can be said about totally natural hair that is lacking vitally important nutrients. In this case the external hair stem is actually dead, but the root is still alive and is fed essential minerals and vitamins through the bloodstream circulating in the scalp. But as far as hair is not fed this dreadful situation may eventually result in hair loss.
Vitamins from the B complex group, and the minerals iron, iodine, and sulphur, are essential for healthy hair and can be supplied by a range of fresh juices. Why not help your hair and give it what it really needs? Here are some great recipes to restore your hair.
Each recipe makes approximately one 8fl oz/230ml glass of juice. Adults can drink up to three glasses daily, but do vary the juice combinations for maximum benefit. Dilute with water if you prefer. Juice each ingredient then blend using a spoon.
o    4oz/125g mangetout (snow peas)
o    3 kale leaves
o    2 large carrots
o    1/2 parsnip
or
o    4oz/125g chunk winter cabbage
o    2 large carrots
o    6 radishes
A couple of more recipes that are very useful for your hair and your general health:
o    small bunch of grapes
o    2 passion fruit
o    2 thick slices pineapple
or
o    4 tangerines
o    4oz/125g raspberries
Hope you and your hair will enjoy these delicious juices!

A cosmetic dentist does precisely as their title claims – they enhance the teeth aesthetically while maintaining and promoting the patient’s oral health.

How Is a Cosmetic Dentist Different from a General Dentist?

Technically, there is no difference between these two dentists. They go through the same training. They graduate their studies with the same degrees. The difference lies in how they approach dental work.

A general dentist specializes in preventing, diagnosing and treating oral disease and decay. A cosmetic dentist, though they also prevent, diagnose and treat dental conditions, holds a different prerogative in mind. They try to offer the treatments which best address the aesthetics of your teeth, enhancing your smile’s beauty while they secure your mouth’s health.

A dentist labels himself a general dentist or a cosmetic dentist to better serve their clients. A client who only wants a cleaning every 6 months, basic braces for the teenagers and dentures for the grandparents may prefer a general dentist.

Who Needs a Cosmetic Dentist?

Anyone who wants to improve their smile may be interested in a cosmetic dentist. Generally, children don’t need a dentist with this specialty because they’re still adjusting from temporary to permanent teeth. However, once your little one starts looking at braces, a dentist specializing in aesthetics can be useful. A cosmetic dentist often offers invisible aligners like Invisalign® in lieu of braces. Since braces can be detrimental to a young person’s social standing as well as their confidence, parents and dentists alike often choose invisible aligners instead, since they serve the same purpose and they function just as proficiently as metal wire braces.

What Services Can a Cosmetic Dentist Offer?

A cosmetic dentist can provide almost any dental service which addresses the health and beauty of your teeth. This includes teeth whitening, veneers, dental implants, porcelain crowns, Invisalign® and more.

To find out which specific dental services would best address your dental conditions, call your Austin cosmetic dentist, Dr. Mike McCarty, DDS to schedule a free initial consultation.

When you’re speaking, do you rely too much on your audience? Are you always getting negative messages from their body language and facial expressions?

I know this is a weird question to ask. But your audience's energy and feedback can either heighten or hinder your performance. For instance, maybe you’re always thinking things like: “That kid popping his gum thinks I’m an idiot,” or “That person who walked out must have been so bored,” or “Why is everyone but that guy paying attention?”

If you struggle with thoughts like these, you may be a co-dependent speaker who needs to please others more than yourself. YIKES! "Co-dependent on my audience? Now you might be thinking, "I only have time to be co-defendant in my personal relationships."

But with your own audience? Yes, co-dependency in a relationship is challenging, but it can ruin your speaking career.

Here's what I mean: As a humorist, I live and die for the laughs. But when I put my speaker hat on, I have to stick to my plan and present my material the best way I feel is necessary so that the majority of the room appreciates it. And you should do the same.

You see, if you’re trying to turn circles to please your audience, you’ll forget things like organization and delivering a convincing speech. For optimal speaking, you should stop trying to please your audience while you’re in the middle of speaking!

That’s right! Stop thinking about it now. This doesn’t mean that you never try to please your audience, though. You need to focus on this when you're preparing your materials, though, rather than while you’re giving your speech.

As a former actor, I know it’s better to rehearse before you get to the stage.

Take it from me: a good actor never, ever gets in front of an audience without being prepared first. Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice does. The same goes for a good speaker.

The best sort of speaker will have a clearly organized speech with memorized quotes and well thought out stories.

The speech will flow naturally not because he’s winging it but because he has prepared for hours and hours before he stepped up to the microphone.

Pleasing your audience in speaking is a lot like pleasing your audience in acting.

As an actor, my job on performance nights isn’t to connect with the audience but to hit my marks and deliver each line flawlessly. When you do this, the audience automatically connects to you. As a speaker, your job is the same.

Regardless of how the audience is reacting, your job is to deliver a well-prepared, exciting, interesting speech with all the right content and emotions. If you start to alter your performance based on how you perceive your audience’s reactions, you’ll inevitably fail.

This is especially true when it comes to storytelling. When you’re putting a story into your speech, it needs to be carefully crafted, line by line, so that it has the impact you need.

Writers don’t pull stories out of the air in a day, and neither can speakers. Instead of knowing the basic outline of your story and changing it for each performance, you should have a carefully worded story crafted and memorized for every speech in which you use it.

In my 30 years performing in front of audiences, I’ve learned that they’re incredibly fickle. No matter what reactions I expect from certain jokes, lines, or stories, they’ll more often than not defy my expectations.

The good news, is NOW I don’t depend on audiences anymore. And you should hopefully do the same.

Now, you should focus on depending upon yourself. You should set your own high standards and spend hours preparing for each speech so you can meet them. Stick to your guns and try to reach your own goals.

You see, I know when I’ve met my personal goals, when I couldn’t care less about what my audience thinks. (Yes, it's a yin and yang sort of thing.) Strangely enough, when I decide to care more about how I feel about my speech than how my audience feels about it, I get more enthusiastic applause every time.

Bill Cosby once said, "I don't know the secret of success, but I do know the secret of failure… trying to please everyone!"

Words to live, don't you think? Try doing it this way and see if your presentation doesn't reach a higher level of impact!

"Life is accepting what is and working from that."

-Gloria Naylor

When things happen that you don't like and leave you feeling hurt or overwhelmed with some sort of emotional residue don't make it harder on yourself by searching for an explanation. Oh sure, you can go on a seek-and-find mission, but don't turn it into your life's work.

The reality is you may never know. And, there you are wasting more precious time on a toxic person or a toxic situation, just to try and figure out, "why."

Learn how to simplify your life by accepting what's happened and know that you will get beyond it just like everyone else who goes through "stuff" gets over it too. Or, you can hang on and drive yourself crazy trying to figure out why people do what they do and why they are who they are.

When someone violates you on any level, decide how you are going to handle it and move on. Don't try to change them or reason with them, argue with them or force some sort of explanation out of them.

You can attempt to force them to think like you or try and get them to see your side but that can turn into an exercise in futility.

Honor yourself by having boundaries that people can't cross over and plant your feet firmly on the ground so that when something does happen, it may make a dent but you won't crumble.

People have different agendas, aren't on the same page, don't see life the same as you but that doesn't mean you have to change their mind. Instead make up your mind to put it behind you and move on to a better place.

You may not like it, you may not have wanted it and you may not have even seen it coming, but dwelling on it isn't going to change a thing. The only thing you can change is your attitude towards it.

You are the only one who can choose whether you are going to let this eat you alive or chalk it up to a part of life and move on.

So if you really need an explanation here it is: Sometimes things happen that we wish didn't and it's your choice to either hold onto it or let it go. It's that simple. Choose to have a good life no matter what happens.

The concept of connection is fundamental to CranioSacral Therapy - and to CranioSacral Therapists who want to attract new clients.

From a physical perspective, we know that every bit of muscle, fiber and bone is intricately connected to every other one through that paper-thin membrane called fascia.

As a therapist, you tap that fascial connection to release pressure on the central nervous system so the entire body, now free of restriction, can function as it was born to.

In that same way, you can tap your direction of ease to create communication connections with potential clients that naturally releases resistance and inspires them to call YOU.

Your energetic connection begins with the healthy mindset you adopt as you shift from the idea of selling to serving through your marketing communications.

From there you move into a physical connection ~ the way in which you use your materials to connect with potential clients.

One of the most generous ways of connecting is by offering valuable, educational information through a newsletter, either in print or in an e-mail format like this one (called an ezine).

There's a simple formula for creating a newsletter that forms a strong bond with your prospects. Combine these 4 distinct elements to create a high-payoff connection:

Element #1: Personal Message From You

Connecting through a newsletter should feel like you're having a personal conversation with your reader.

You'll deepen that experience when you open with a short personal message from you. You come across as more open, more accessible. More human. Someone your reader can relate to.

So feel free to open up a bit. You don't have to share every detail of your life. (Nor should you.) But do give your readers a peek inside.

It's a personal, powerful way to reinforce the bond you share along the path to full-bodied health.

Element #2: Short Article, Tip or Client-Outcome Story

It's easy to get overwhelmed with the idea of writing an article. But the truth is, most people don't even want to read the kind of opus you might have in mind.

Newsletter articles should be short and focused, especially if it's delivered via e-mail as an ezine. Shoot for 700 words or fewer.

To help, imagine you're peering into a house through a keyhole. You know there's a whole room on the other side. But you can only see one tiny spot right there in front of you.

Focus your writing on that one tiny spot and let all the other ideas fade away. Then you'll have a satisfying, bite-sized article your readers can put to good use.

If you still can't find your way to writing short, helpful articles, consider using health tips or client-outcome stories that clearly show the before-and-after potential of your work.

They'll position you as an educated ally in your prospect's health and well-being.

Element #3: Short Bio

What makes you the best practitioner for your ideal client? Share that in a short bio.

Yes, you can include your years of training and experience. But also be sure to say who you love to help, what that person is struggling with, and what she gets out of working with you.

That lends your bio valuable context that instantly allows your reader to select herself ~ or someone she knows ~ for your services.

Element #4: Tell Your Reader Her Next Step

Once your reader knows that you offer something she needs, she needs to know what to do next.

This is where it pays to remember that touch therapy is an intimate relationship. Someone who's been reading your newsletter for awhile may feel like she knows you, likes you and trusts you. Yet it's still a big leap to go from reading an article to lying on your treatment table.

Bridge that gap by offering a short, complimentary phone consult so your ideal candidate can find out firsthand how your therapy can help her.

Add 5 Grams: Connect on a Consistent Basis

Once you've got the 4-part formula down, deepen the connection by reaching out to your potential clients on a regular basis.

How often? At least once a month.

By reaching out once a month or more, your prospect is more likely to remember who you are. And each message builds on the one before it, expanding her understanding of your expertise.

Then when your prospect needs the help you deliver, you're the first person she calls. That's when you enjoy the pay-off of a healthy communications connection.

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving your oral health and the aesthetics of your smile. Essentially, it takes general dentistry and adds a layer of beautification. Your cosmetic dentist not only prevents, diagnoses and treats oral decay and disease, they also use methods which result in the most aesthetically pleasing smile possible. This way, you get both the internal and the external benefits which dentistry can provide.

Here are a few areas in which your Austin cosmetic dentist can help you.

Treatments for Cosmetic Enhancement & Oral Health

Some of the treatments available at your Austin cosmetic dentistry clinic affect both your oral health and your resulting smile. A missing tooth, for example, can be debilitating for your self-esteem, as well as cause skin to sag around the cheeks and jaw. This makes tooth replacement a cosmetic procedure, as patients attempt to beautify their smile. However, a missing tooth can also cause a number of health problems. It can make it more difficult to brush surrounding teeth and gum tissue, creating gum disease and eventually further tooth loss. It can cause speech impediments. It can make it difficult to chew food, causing nutritional issues. A cosmetic dentist can offer a dental implant, a porcelain fixed bridge or a set of dentures to fill in the missing gap or gaps in your smile. In this case, the cosmetic dentist effectively treats both the health issue and the cosmetic concern.

Purely Cosmetic Treatments

Of course, a cosmetic dentist also offers a few purely cosmetic dental treatments – although almost all cosmetic dental services overlap with practical need. Teeth whitening is a classic example of specifically aesthetic dental procedures. Whether it’s an in-office treatment like Zoom!® whitening or a take-home bleaching tray, teeth whitening turns your teeth into a brighter shade of white, targeting a primarily cosmetic concern.

Giving Practical Treatments a Cosmetic Benefit

A cosmetic dentist also knows how to provide standard dental treatments with an aesthetic edge. Many teenagers require braces to properly functioning, beautifully straight set of teeth. However, those many months of metal wire lining the mouth can prove frustrating. A cosmetic dentist may suggest Invisalign® instead of the classic braces. Invisalign® is an invisible aligner which straightens and aligns the teeth into their ideal positions, just like braces, but without the aesthetic inconvenience.

If you’re interested in cosmetically enhancing your teeth while simultaneously addressing dental conditions, call Dr. Mike McCarty, DDS, today. Dr. McCarty offers free initial consultations at his convenient Austin cosmetic dentistry practice.

What creates your misery?

Junk!

What kind of junk?

* Junk thoughts

* Junk Food

* Junk drugs

JUNK THOUGHTS

Junk thoughts are any thoughts that create anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, anger, blame, resentment, jealousy, envy - any thoughts that create misery.

We all have junk thoughts at times, but many people never connect their junk thoughts with their misery. They think that their misery is coming form other people, or from events or circumstances. Yet research on happiness and unhappiness shows that only about 10% of unhappiness comes from outside circumstances, while fully 50% of happiness or misery comes from your own thoughts and actions. The other 40% is genetic - i.e. some people are born with sunny dispositions while others are more serious or morose. However, the research also shows that even those who are born more serious or morose, have the choice to be happy by developing the habit of thinking thoughts and taking actions that bring them joy.

What kinds of thoughts do you have most of the time? What kinds of thought do you have as soon as you wake up on the morning? Do you think, "Oh no, another day to face. I'm too tired to do this day," or do you think, "Thank you for this great day! I'm alive and vibrant and ready to embrace this day!" The first thought is a junk thought, guaranteed to being you misery, while that second is energizing and likely to create feelings of happiness.

JUNK FOOD

Are you tuned in to how food affects your feelings? Do you know how sugar, too much coffee, processed devitalized pesticide-and-chemical-laden foods affect your mood? Do you know which foods allow you a good night sleep and which ones keep you up at night? Do you know which foods give you tons of energy and which ones rob you of energy?

Just as you need to start to get conscious of how your thoughts affect your feelings, you also need to attend to how food affects your feelings if you want to feel joy most of the time in your life.

While some people are more sensitive to foods than others, everyone is affected by junk food. And even healthy foods can have a bad effect if they are not right for your body. I'm very sensitive to carbs, even healthy vegetable carbs. I love my green smoothies filled with raw veggies and some fruit, but if I drink them after lunch, they keep me up at night. So each of us needs to be aware of how what we put into our bodies affects us if we want to move out of misery and into joy.

JUNK DRUGS

One of the things that can occur with many drugs, both recreational and prescription, is what is called a rebound effect. A rebound effect is when the drugs ends up causing the very symptom it is geared to suppress. For example, I can't take any antihistamines because, while they work for the moment, they end up causing me to be highly allergic. It is well known that many antidepressants can cause suicidal feelings, making the person even more depressed than they were before taking the drugs. For some people, drugs for relaxation can case the very stress they are meant to heal.

It is vitally important to be conscious of the effect of anything that you put into your body. Trying to put a lid on feelings rather than addressing the junk thoughts and actions that might be causing them can keep you stuck in misery.

Happiness is a choice that we all have the power to make.

Macular degeneration is a very serious condition of the eye. It develops over the years and if left untreated can result in the deterioration of the sight and even blindness. There are treatments available and even natural methods such as following a good diet to help prevent it from occurring. Anyone wishing to know more about the serious condition that is macular degeneration should read this article. Here you will find an explanation of how to prevent it and what to do if you have it.

There are two different types of macular degeneration. The first is know as dry AMD (age-related macular degeneration.) This occurs when the cells in the macular part of the eye that are light sensitive start to deteriorate and break down. The other type of this condition is called wet AMD and this is rarer and caused when the blood vessels in the eye begin to grow abnormally and therefore start to leak. The leaking makes the retina start to pull away from the eye wall which leads to swelling and if left untreated eventual blindness. Either way, when the retina begins to fail the result is blurred vision or seeing straight lines as wavy. It is extremely serious and should not be ignored.

If you have experienced poor sight or blurred vision then it is imperative that you visit the optician or the local eye hospital straight away. They will be able to provide information about the treatments available. If the condition is not very serious and hasn't developed too far then a course of eye drops or other special medication may be enough to prevent the condition from worsening. If however the situation is more serious then laser eye treatment may be appropriate.

Laser eye surgery is an effective way to treat dry AMD. The lasers enable the surgeon to make the necessary improvements to the retina. At the very least the procedure prevents the condition from worsening, but in most cases patients report and overall improvement to their eye sight. The results are instantaneous too and as soon as the brief surgery has been completed, patients are able to see better and more clearly than before. A few days of rest may be necessary for the eyes which means no television or reading or exposure to bright lights, but otherwise there is very little recovery time needed. Often patients return to work the very next day.

With any health related problem, preventative measures should be taken. This means you must promote your overall health with a good diet full of fruit and vegetables and plenty of exercise too. Regular eye check ups are vital too so any problems can be caught early which makes them easier to deal with. Green leafy vegetables are particularly good and full of the right nutrients to help prevent problems with your eyesight. Carrots are also especially good for keeping eyes healthy and strong so it is not a total fallacy that they help you see in the dark!

Macular degeneration is very serious, but the good news is that there is treatment available. Laser eye surgery is simple, quick and recovery is fast. You won't be laid up in bed for weeks on end as with other surgeries. Surgery of this nature is also good for other eye conditions - glaucoma surgery in particular can help sufferers preserve their eyesight. Eye laser surgery should be discussed with your doctor or optician to see if you would be a good candidate for it as it could provide a huge amount of improvement to your overall quality of life. If you are suffering from an eye illness or condition there is no need to suffer in silence.

A PET CT scan is a very important part of modern medicine. It is actually two medical imaging scans packaged up together for the purpose of creating a more in depth picture of the human body. The PET scan involves exposing the body to radioactive material that results in gamma rays being emitted from the part of the body being investigated. These energy rays can be detected and analysed and from this a clear picture can be gleaned of the condition of the organs, cells and tissue in that particular area. This unique function makes a PET scan extremely valuable in measuring and detecting cancerous growths and tumors in the body.

When combined with a CT scan, the end result is extremely detailed. A CT scan uses X-rays to provide a picture of the inside of the body. This makes locating tumors and abnormalities in the body much easier. By combining the two images (the PET scan and CT scan) a doctor receives an even fuller and more complete picture than when using just one or the other independently of each other. This ensures more accurate diagnoses can be made and more effective treatment given.

There are a number of benefits of a PET CT scan. First and foremost the information that is produced in this way is completely unique, and would be out of reach otherwise. There is no other scan or combination of scans that can provide as detailed and full a picture as that of a PET CT scan. Using imaging software and scans in this way is a much cheaper alternative than carrying out surgery to look into the body. Sometimes an investigative surgery will be unavoidable, but this is usually a last resort as it is more time consuming, more expensive and a great deal more difficult for the patient who may takes days or even weeks to recover. A PET CT scan can be carried out on an outpatient basis so it provides the minimum inconvenience to the patient.

PET scanning in particular, regardless of whether or not it is combined with a CT scan, provides intricate details of the body on a cellular level. This allows a disease or illness to be detected very early on, more so than other modalities are able to provide. When combined however, a PET scan and CT scan are extremely accurate. They can be performed at the same time, the patient does not even have to change positions which means there is very little room for error. This also makes it one of the most convenient medical imaging methods available. Software developed for reading data from a PET-CT allows for the metabolic (PET) and Anatomical (CT) data to be aligned one on top of the other giving the radiologists the most complete information possible.

As for disadvantages, well there aren't really any. Yes the patient is exposed to radioactive material, but this is such a small amount that it has no long term side effects. Nuclear medicine has been in existence for at least 50 years, and during that time there have been few serious problems arise from this type of treatment. Women who are pregnant may be unsuitable for a PET CT scan, but otherwise it is an extremely safe and effective procedure.

All medical imaging software is valuable to doctors and healthcare professionals, but none more so than that developed for reading a combined PET CT scan. The PET scan can provide detailed information about any abnormal cells - in this respect it can detect abnormal cells, the speed at which they are developing and how much they have spread. A CT scan provides a detailed image of the body which provides a map and directions to the location of the cells. Working as a double team allows doctors to make better treatment plans and provide the most appropriate care for their patients. It is particularly effective as one of the tools used in providing oncology solutions and is also useful in a multitude of medical disciplines.

Even if you’re recovered from a face full of acne, that obstinate bacterium may have left some additional skin problems behind in the farm of acne scar tissue. Although not all acne treatments affect acne scars, there are acne scar treatments which effectively reduce the leftover facial scars.

Laser Resurfacing

During the laser resurfacing treatment process, the lasers sand down the epidermis, the surface layer of skin, while simultaneously stimulating the dermis, the second layer of skin. This encourages new skin to form swiftly as the face heals. The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser most effectively treats acne scars for laser resurfacing.

Other, non-ablative laser treatments are available as well – including pulsed light sources and radiofrequency devices – and these options do not harm the surface of the skin. However, depending on your unique skin, these options may not be effective enough to noticeably diminish the acne scarring.

Tissue Fillers

This acne scar treatment involves your Austin cosmetic dermatologist injecting collagen under the acne scars to stretch the skin. Imagine when you make your bed, and you have to pull the top sheet out to get rid of all the wrinkles. Tissue fillers act in a similar way, smoothing out the skin. However, it is a temporary solution to acne scars, requiring periodic injections to maintain clear skin. The hyaluronic acid fillers, including RESTYLANE® and JUVEDERM™, are suggested by the best cosmetic dermatologists. As an organic ingredient in skin, hyaluronic acid provides high-quality option in filling acne scars.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion essentially sands away the surface of your skin, eliminating bacteria and dead skin cells along with minor acne scars. For microdermabrasion to effectively reduce scar tissue, patients generally require multiple treatments. Talk to your Austin cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Steven Zimmet, to determine if microdermabrasion is right for your skin care needs.

Surgery

In cases of extreme acne scarring, surgery may be necessary to actively extract each acne scar. However, this invasive procedure should be saved as a last resort for acne scar removal.

To discuss your personalized skin care plan, call Zimmet Vein & Dermatology today. Dr. Zimmet, professional cosmetic dermatologist and phlebologist in Austin, will help you most effectively treat your skin condition.

It's 11:47 p.m. Saturday night and I just hung up after 2 hours on the phone with a computer technician named Karthick.

This was on the heels of 2 weeks of technological and communications breakdowns that brought my business to a grinding halt.

If you've run your own practice for any length of time, you should have your own systems in place to streamline your day-to-day operations. But what happens when you have a breakdown that threatens your business ~ and your peace of mind?

Here are 4 tips that allowed me to break through my breakdown with a smile still on my face:

Tip #1: Align With Happy

Every moment of every day, you're surrounded with a spectrum of energies that radiate at different vibrations and tones.

Just as a Biodynamic practitioner helps clients synchronize with the healing rhythm of the long tide, you have the opportunity to CHOOSE the energies and rhythms you want to align with, too.

When I'm stuck like I was the last 2 weeks, I like to go straight for Happy. For me, that feels like a pink balloon expanding in my chest. When I align with Happy, I can feel my heart-space expanding. And any negative thoughts I had a moment ago drift away.

Try it yourself. Close your eyes and remember a time when you were happy. Get a sense of how that feels in your body. Now allow the memory to fall away and simply feel the feeling.

For an extra boost, place the palm of your hand against that spot and gently press. You'll anchor the feeling in your body and in your cellular memory.

Tip #2: Put Help In Place

As a CranioSacral Therapist, you probably run your own practice. And as a solopreneur, you should have help in place to handle those things that don't reflect your special gifts and skills.

For me, that's Angee, my client-care manager and all-around technical whiz. When my website crashed, she was on the phone getting it fixed while I was doing what I do best - writing, coaching and creating systems for you!

So get a head start on growing your practice and better managing your life. Make a list of all those day-to-day tasks that don't represent your unique brilliance. Then get help from someone who likes to play at what feels like work for you.

Tip #3: Surround Yourself With Upliftment

It's been said that when it comes to success, your environment always wins. That doesn't just mean your physical space, but also the people and ideas you surround yourself with on a daily basis.

Do you have people in your life who talk you up when you're feeling down? Or do they try to beat your misery by sharing more of their own?

When my systems crashed, I made a point of spending an evening with my best pals. We made a delicious dinner and spent the next few hours talking about our dreams.

It was a night filled with magic. And I went to bed remembering that anything is possible.

Tip #4: Prepare Ahead to Resource Yourself

Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, CranioSacral Therapist and author of "Full Body Presence," touts the need to prepare in advance for those times you feel beaten and alone.

How? By keeping a running list of specific things that "resource you."

My list includes everything from hot baths to meditation. But when I get really down I pull out the big guns: I leave my desk and go to a bookstore.

Every time I walk into one, I feel like I'm falling in love. I don't even have to buy anything. Just knowing that I'm surrounded by the secrets of life is enough to lift my spirits again.

Add 5 Grams: Practice When It Doesn't Count

Don't wait for a systems breakdown to take you out. Start today:

• Get in touch with what Happy feels like.

• Make a list of where you need help in your practice.

• Surround yourself with people who lift you up.

• Take time out to resource yourself. (Get a session!)

Practice when it doesn't count. Then when it does, you'll break through the gridlock and frustration with far more ease and joy.

An alcohol detox program is an integral component of a medication treatment to free your body from experiencing withdrawal symptoms while undergoing alcohol addiction treatment. According to the experts, those who stop drinking alcohol will have different withdrawal symptoms from 2 to 3 days after the last drink.

The medicine that is commonly prescribed to people undergoing the alcohol detoxification program is chlordiazepoxide, a benzodiazepine drug. There are 4 goals that detoxification in alcohol aims for.

First, it provides you a safe withdrawal from alcohol dependence. Second, it provides humane treatment to protect your dignity. Third, it helps provide recovery of cognitive and affective faculties. Fourth, it prepares you for continued treatment program.

In the first goal, some of the withdrawal symptoms that are commonly experienced by people who are trying to quit alcohol drinking include auditory disturbances, sweating, strong craving for alcohol, trembling, anxiety, headache, irritability, tremors and even delirium. Most often, people become irritable when they are sober for a short period of time.

The irritability, though, has its limit that when overcome, will just go away. But as to knowing the limit of having the irritability remains to be relative. Some have it for many days, even weeks that unless they succumb to their cravings, they should have another effective approach in toning down the irritability. Others are irritable for just a few hours, if they were able to overcome it immediately and divert their energy and focus to another more meaningful activity.

Having a detoxification program would certainly help you not to experience these withdrawal symptoms, or at least have them least severe.

The second goal, the program seeks to provide a treatment that upholds the dignity, reputation and rights of the patient. There may be a case when alcoholism is regarded as dreadful that instead of helping the alcoholics, the society treats them as public nuisance, depriving them of their human rights. The program ensures that the alcoholics are given the best option for treatment without condemnation.

Among the long-term side effects of chronic alcoholism, the serious and most lethal are heart disease, inflammation of the pancreas, cirrhosis, high blood pressure, and brain degeneration. While all these pose serious health problems, the brain degeneration is regarded as the most serious of them all.

The third goal of alcohol detox is to try recovering the normal function of the mental and emotional faculty of the one undergoing the alcohol treatment. At some point, the medical professionals involved in the detoxification program may try to reverse the effect of brain degeneration.

Depending on the seriousness of the case and the response of the alcoholic individual, the treatment may continue after the detox program. If such is the case, the detoxification program is also designed to help people have a safe and smooth continuation of treatment after the detoxification is completed. As to what kind of treatment it is, the medical professional is the one who should make that decision.

Here are the best ways to use to find the best insurance companies that will offer you long term insurance for the best price possible.

1. Phone calls - You can start with your local phone book. Pick up the phone and call different companies in the area where you live to find out what they offer for this insurance.

This will take some time to do, but it will be well worth the time spent when you finally find the right insurance with the best company possible.

2. Internet - This is your best choice to help you find the companies that will give you good long term coverage for a price you can afford. There are two big advantages to using the internet to find this insurance with a good company.

One of the advantages is that you can get free quotes from more than one insurance company. These quotes will help you determine important information about the insurance policy.

If you love your grapes, you simply must drink wine with pizza; however, you also need to match the right wines with the right pizza. Learning to do this can be quite fun.

While there is no "right or wrong" wine with pizza, as there is no right and wrong in pairing wines with fish, you will do better by following some guidelines. Also, there are a boatload of wines, which might make the task of choosing the right one a little daunting. Fortunately, there are fewer varieties of pizzas than there are wines, so choose the pizza first and then find a wine to match.

Remember: Light wines should be chosen for light food and heavier wines for heavier food. Foods like soup and other light dishes would go well with light wines. More often white wine would be an appropriate choice. Stronger foods with fuller flavors go best with stronger wines.

Generally, Italian reds such as Valpolicella or Chianti go well with pizza. Sangiovese is a great choice as is Zinfandel.

Cheese Pizza: Cheese pizzas are a basic type of pizza and are much more versatile than the rest. Those who prefer white wines can go with a full-bodied Chardonnay, as it would go well with the flavor of cheese. It is also an ideal choice for bread and tomato sauce that accompany the pizza. Those who are fond of red can go for Sangiovese or Chianti Classico which are also great matches for a cheese pizza and generally preferred as most pizzas that have a red sauce base demand a red wine whereas, a while sauced base pizza commands white.

Meat Pizzas: Meat pizzas have a full bodied taste and require a stronger wine. Pizzas with ham are an exception. A stronger flavor like Syrah or a Zinfandel would be a good choice with most meat pizzas.

Hawaiian Pizza: Hawaiian Pizzas are much sweeter than are most other pizzas and would normally require a sweeter wine. A Riesling would therefore be a good choice to go along with a Hawaiian pizza. Alternatives would be light-bodied Beaujolais or a Sauvignon Blanc.

Vegetarian Pizza: The flavors in Vegetarian Pizzas are not as strong as the ones in most meat pizzas. Therefore, a vegetarian pizza would go well with something that does not overpower its mild flavors. A delicate and mild wine like Pinot Noir would therefore be a great choice for a veggie pizza, as it will draw out the sauce's flavor well.

It’s turkey time! The bird is out of the oven and it’s time to carve turkey! Rather than trying to cut all the meat directly from the carcass at the table, consider creating an attractive platter behind the scenes this year.

The turkey is fully roasted when my thermometer reads 165F (74C) at the thickest part of the bird. If you stuff your turkey in the traditional way, filling the cavity with your favorite holiday stuffing recipe, then the temperature should be taken there. I’ve stuffed my Thanksgiving turkey between the skin and breast meat, so I’ll take the finished temperature at the thickest part, between thigh and breast.

After letting the turkey rest for 30 minutes to allow heat and juices to redistribute, I’ll have a specific procedure that I always use to carve turkey.

The object is to disassemble the turkey more like a surgeon than a bear. Strategic cuts without hacking will yield a more attractive platter, so my first cut with a slicing knife is to remove the turkey leg. Cutting between leg and thigh, I’m first looking to separate the ball and socket joint of the leg without having to cut through bone.

Then, the thigh and wing can be removed in the same way. If you’re unsure exactly where to place your knife, it’s best to pause and examine how the joint moves. Place the thumb of your non-knife hand directly above where you believe the thigh or wing joint to be. Move the wing or thigh back and forth until your thumb detects the exact spot of the joint. Then, cut through the softer cartilage.

My favorite way to carve turkey is to remove the breast in one piece rather than cutting slices from the carcass. This is accomplished by finding the middle breast bone and cutting downward, just to the side of it, following the rib cage in a rounded fashion. Then, a horizontal cut just above where the thigh was will remove the entire turkey breast.

If you’ve stuffed your turkey under the skin as I have, then a simple bias cut across the breast will present an attractive slice of turkey, stuffing, and crispy skin in one. The turkey breast can then be further sliced and make the centerpiece of our platter.

Of all my cooking turkey tips, using correct knife skills along with some patience and thought is the best way to carve turkey, and identifying the exact places to cut and disassemble the bird will make the most attractive platter.

With the increase in scientific development and enhancement of industrialization, where the world has gained a lot, it has also lost on major frontiers. One of it is health. With the increase in globalization, the demand for food supplies is also on an incessant increase. To cater to this increased demand, farmers have resorted to chemical fertilizers and genetically engineered food seeds.

Although these methods ensure pest-free crops in huge quantities that would otherwise have been impossible to get yet they have resulted in serious health hazards for us. Take for instance, the example of coffee. There is an ongoing debate whether organic coffee beans should be used or inorganic.

Before delving into the details, let us first know what organic coffee actually is. It is the coffee that is cultivated according to the organic farming ways without the usage of artificial herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. Techniques used in organic cultivation of coffee beans include socially responsible and green activities like composting, recycling, social and environmental protection strategies.

Having said that, it is also significant to mention here that coffee beans can only be classified as 'organic' when they have passed the following tests:

1. They should be grown on a land that has not been through the usage of pesticides or other restricted substances for a period of three years.

2. The land on which organic coffee is grown should have had sufficient crop rotation, thus preventing erosion and depletion of soil nutrients.

3. A sufficient barrier should exist between organic coffee beans and their nearest traditional crop.

Organic coffee beans are primarily produced in Mexico, Peru and Ethiopia. The advantages of using organic coffee beans include the fact that they are tastier and coffee brewed through them has a richer flavor as compared to the synthetic coffee beans.

Their added advantage is that they are good for the environment whereas most of the coffee available in the market is grown through the usage pesticides and chemical fertilizers. These substances pollute the environment severely and are a serious health hazard for animals and humans. These problems can be sufficiently catered to if farmers choose organic methods for the growth of coffee. That is the reason that for the growth of organic coffee beans, farmers especially in the USA must go through a tough process of certification by the USA Department of Agriculture.

One may ask whether one can differentiate between organic and inorganic coffee through its appearance. The answer is no. they would look alike but their tastes would be way different from each other. Organic coffee will have a lovely aroma and flavor which even the most expensive synthetic gourmet coffee won't have. So people, who are coffee addicts, can very well differentiate through their experiences taste buds. Being a citizen of the mother earth, it is also highly advised that for the protection of natural ecosystems, wildlife and soil nutrients, you should go for organic food products including coffee beans. So, include it in your green lifestyle mottos.
