You might be surprised to learn that there isn't one style of yoga practice so you'll need to learn some more about the different styles in order to decide which one is right for you. In this article we'll take a closer look at four practice styles: hatha yoga, vinyasa, ashtanga and power yoga to help you on the way to your decision.

1. Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is often used interchangeably with the word yoga and classes are usually slow-paced involving stretching, some simple breathing exercises and some seated meditations. If you are a beginner then this is a good place to start so that you can spend time learning the basic techniques.

If you are looking for a calming and relaxing experience then hatha yoga is probably right for you. If you'd prefer something more energetic then you should consider vinyasa instead.

2. Vinyasa

Vinyasa means breath-synchonised movement and in these classes the teacher will ask you to move from one pose to another in time with your breath. The poses all flow together in a fluid movement.

Vinyasa classes offer a lot of variety due to the vast number of poses, although most will include the Sun Salutations. The speed of the movements is very much dictated by the teacher, so if you find that a class is too fast for you look for a different teacher. In order to appreciate vinyasa you need to have a teacher that you are comfortable with as their style will shape the class, keep looking until you find someone you connect with.

3. Ashtanga

Ashtanga is a series of poses which realign the spine, detoxify the body and build strength, stamina and flexibility. There are 75 poses in all and they can take anywhere between an hour and a half to two hours to complete. You start with sun salutations and then move to standing poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends before finishing with relaxation.

You can learn ashtanga at a teacher-led class, and then when you are happy with the order of the poses you can either practice on your own or in a mysore class where you practice at your own pace but have a teacher for guidance.

Ashtanga is a very athletic form of practice and is very popular. If you like a sense of order then this style will appeal to you.

4. Power yoga

Power yoga is often used to describe vigorous, fitness-style classes, which are based on ashtanga but don't follow the same series of poses each time. The classes focus on strength and flexibility and are popular in gyms and health clubs.

If you already quite fit and enjoy exercise rather than meditation then this style of yoga may appeal to you.

There are many different styles of yoga practice from the slow meditative style of hatha yoga through to the structured approach of ashtanga and the vigorous but often changing power yoga. Start out with a class suitable for beginners to that you can learn the poses and then move onto the style of yoga that suits you best in order to benefit from this wonderful form of exercise.

Though developed in India and considered part of more than one spiritual tradition, yoga has become a widespread practice without religious overtones. It is a form of exercise that is appropriate for almost everyone.

In Sanskrit, the word means yoke or bringing together. However, most people use the term to refer to the poses or asanas. Completing a series of poses involves both stretching the muscles in numerous ways and monitored breathing and can result in a strong feeling of well being

The key to benefiting is to establish a practice or regular routine. Flexibility and fitness are not required since there are modifications available. As strength grows, practitioners can move into more difficult variations and further increase the suppleness of the muscles. Classes are available in many places including community centers, health clubs, and yoga studios. Very little special equipment is required.

It may take some experimenting to find the class that best suits one's body because they vary in intensity. A good place to start is in Hatha classes where the poses are simpler and the pace slower.

Studies have shown that yoga may help limit the effects of certain conditions like asthma and PMS. However, it is also very well suited to reducing stress and anxiety. With a consistent practice, at each session, the body becomes both relaxed and energized. It may be the controlled breathing that targets stress best. Focusing on the breath takes the mind away from other worries.

Here is one asana anyone can try now as long as the back is healthy. It is called the cat pose. It increases familiarity with the body's center and helps with coordinating movement and breathing. Begin on all fours, preferably on a padded surface so that there will be less pressure on the knees. Make sure the hands are straight down from the shoulders and the knees are straight down from the hips. Rock forward and back gently to find the place where the spine is straight and the body is balanced. Inhale. On the exhale, pull the abdominal muscles up and curve the spine. Drop the head so there is a single semi-circular line running from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Inhale and release the pose.

Though becoming strong and flexible through yoga requires discipline and the drive to stick with it, the gains justify the effort. A sharper, calmer mind comes with greater physical ability.

I know that Rome was not built in a day. If it is not really possible to quit smoking in a day, take following steps…

Deep Breathing:

A magical tip to relieve you from the pressure of cigarette and smoking. Anytime you feel to smoke a cigarette, do the following. Do it three times.
Close your eyes; breathe in the deepest lung-full of air; slowly and slowly breathe out the air. Visualize all the stress moving out from your body. Take a deep breath again and observe the positive energy getting into your body. Again, breathe out slowly and slowly. Repeat and smile. Meditation and Prayer.Take some time out for your own self. There are several ways to meditate and prayer is a sort of mediation.
Self-determination:

Where there is a will there is a way. Remember, every time is a good time to quit smoking. Above all! It is better to be late than never. So, you can start stopping the smoking today even.

Fluid:
Drink lots of fluid to flush out the toxic nicotine. Drink water, fresh juices, and etc (I’m not talking about alcohol). Please avoid drinking coffee, as it is also addictive and people sometimes replace cigarette with coffee
Write and read:
It sounds quite funny but it is a beautiful way to control your mind. Just take a paper and pen down at least ten goodish of non-smoking and ten baddish of smoking. Paste the paper opposite to your bed and read as many times as you think about cigarettes.Smile
Love yourself:

Until and unless you cannot love yourself, there is no need to quit smoking. For whom do you need to quit smoking then, huh? Please search you hidden traits, do self-appraisal, and respect yourself. Mull over them as the best opportunities to enjoy life. Love yourself and, yes you know, quit smoking.

Do Exercise/Yoga/Massage:

Exercise/Yoga/Massage are very important to overcome stress  and quit smoking. To stop smoking, you should be physically fit and mentally strong. Exercise tightens the loose muscles and rejuvenates the fatigued muscles. Massage is a wonderful way to relax and calm down your tired muscles.
Family n friend support:

Human is a social animal and cannot live isolate. Go ahead; do not hesitate to share your feelings with your near and dear ones. Involve yourself in social activities and games. I’m sure they will support you to quit smoking.

Once you've decided to think more positively, the following steps will help you re-focus your thinking. Expect some set-backs. Habitual behavior is hard to change, but it can change with effort, commitment, and practice.
·         Declare your intent to think positively. Intention is very powerful, even more so when declared publicly. But at the least, write down your intention. Get it on paper in strong, direct language. This is not the time to be tentative.
·         Tell one or two friends of your intention and ask for their support. Don't tell anyone unless they are positive and supportive themselves.
·         This positive affirmation may help you get started: I am an optimistic, hopeful, positive thinking person. I accept that bad things may happen in my life, but I look for positive opportunities in the midst of anything negative.
·         Research the literature for benefits of positive thinking. Knowing that it is good for you will help reinforce your commitment. Suggested sources: PsychologyToday.com, WebMD.com, and the books Authentic Happiness and Learned Optimism by Dr. Martin Seligman.
·         When some negative thinking occurs, examine all the facts you know. Be clear about what is fact and what is fear, what is known and what is assumed. If you find you've jumped to a negative conclusion to the facts you know, ask yourself what other situations might fit the same facts?
·         At the end of each day, reflect on the positives of the day. What went right and why? Rather than focusing on what went wrong, focus instead on what you learned.
·         Become very aware of your thinking. Notice when you think positively and congratulate yourself. Also notice when you think negatively and convert your thoughts to a more positive view.
·         At the end of the day repeat this affirmation: I am an optimistic, hopeful, positive thinking person.
·         Before going to sleep, reflect upon what you're looking forward to the next day.

One of the major desires of anyone who has discovered his purpose for living is to be successful in life. I mean being successful in every facet of life - in your relationships, family, job, and businesses. And success here, is not just achieving your "small" dreams for yourself. Before you can really be a success, your dreams to be accomplished should be bigger than you are. Your dreams should be more people oriented and just for yourself. For instance, if your dream is to get a good job, have a beautiful wife, nice kids, large home and expensive cars. And if you are able to achieve all these in good time, you may consider yourself successful. Yes! You are. But, what you achieved were just part of the "complete" success. Your success should not just be for you and your immediate family but touch those around you, for it's people around you that will actually determine if you are truly successful or not. I'm not saying you can't know whether you are a success or not, but it would be better for your success to be obvious and for people outside your family to really see you as one.
You will be happier seeing your life imparting more positively on the society and people around you than just you and your family. That's exactly what success does. So, the more successful you are; the happier you become. Becoming super-successful is not really an easy task. There are 16 basic qualities that are needed to be imbibed by those that want to be super-successful. Some of these qualities are built-in parts of your inherent personality, and some of them get developed over time with your conscious effort.
1. Highly successful people do have and always apply common sense in their daily activities and relationships. Common sense simply means being able to exactly know what to do at any particular point in time. Once someone with common sense act, he would've acted accurately and it would be obvious that his actions were good match for the circumstances that prompted his actions. This special knowledge here is mainly gained from experience as well as from everyday life affairs. Successful people always put extra effort to learning from life itself; knowing fully well that real knowledge consist in what happens around them and knowing how to deal with them appropriately.
2. They have good understanding. They have the ability to observe and explain the meaning or the nature of somebody or something. This gives them advantage in handling difficult issues with ease as they will always have insight into what ought to be done, as well as how and when they ought to be done. Good understanding makes them to also empathize with those around them and this helps a great deal in building healthy relationships. The thought pattern will determine how well or otherwise someone's understanding will be, because someone's understanding is a function of his thought. What I mean here is that people are limited by their thought because no one can have more understanding than what he has thought about before.
3. They are specialists in their areas of interest. Despite the fact that highly successful people do have an open mind in all subjects, they always have areas they specialize in - areas they have authority in. They can not afford to be jack of all trade but master of none. Rather, they find an area of concentration to harness and explore for the addition of value to mankind. They do what they know how to do very well.
4. They are selfless. Highly successful do what they do not mainly because of selfish interests, but because they want to make the world around them better than they meet it. You may see them with 'luxuries', but their lives do not consist in those "luxuries". If you have the ability to see beyond your optical eyes, you will notice that their major interest is to impart the world around them positively.
5. They are highly disciplined. Highly successful people are not influenced by what goes on around them. On the contrary, they determine what happens around them most of the times. They don't do things because everyone else is doing those things. But they do those things that will be contributory to their success even if they are some worth difficult. They consciously live a life of self-restraint.
6. They are hard working. They are industrious and diligent and always ensure that all that is needed to be done is not left out. They do not leave out today's job for tomorrow. And they always make sure they work smart in their quest for greater accomplishments.
7. They are people of high integrity. Highly successful people do not profess to believe what they don't believe. They are trustworthy as well as straightforward in their dealings with their contacts. Their yes is always yes to anyone anywhere at anytime.
8. They are greatly committed to whatever course they believe in. Highly successful people do not take lightly any venture they undertake. They always ensure that they put in all their best to succeed in any of their endeavors as well as responsible for what they stand for. No matter what it seems the results of their actions or inactions are going to produce, they always maintain their grounds.
9. They are good communicators. Highly successful people know how to successfully pass across their thoughts to those they are meant for without causing any ill will. Their words are well fitted and always carry the right message at any particular point in time.
10. They are focused. Highly successful people know what they want from life and do go for them no matter what the circumstances or state of things at the moment are presenting to them. They understand what is needful and how to separate what is and what is not important from their clustered daily activities. Despite they accomplish a lot; they don't get involved with so many projects at a time, rather they ensure that each of their projects is followed and attended to as they planned.
11. They are self-confident. Highly successful people feel great about themselves and their abilities. They are not afraid to take risk and make difficult decisions. Self-confidence is the will power to refuse to be afraid and shy in any condition one finds himself. And it can be developed over time by training.
12. They are creative. Creativity here is the ability to use your perceptions and come up with new solutions to old problems, get things done in a different way or find a totally different approach for usual phenomena. Highly successful people are always in creative thinking of how to meet the felt needs around them.
13. They have the ability to lead others. Highly successful people have that charisma of leading others and getting tasks easily done by other people. They understand every member of their team and know how to carry them along.
14. They are humble. Highly successful are not arrogant at all. They give everyone around them the respect due to them. They know how to carry anyone along without hurting peoples' feelings. Despite their humbleness, they know how to draw a line between timidity and humility.
15. They have positive mentality. They always see opportunities where others see problems as well as on the look out for needs around them and constantly thinking of how to meet those needs. They always look at the brighter side of life and help those that don't see life the way they do. They are always self-motivated.
16. They don't procrastinate. Highly successful people don't have the habit of needless delaying where prompt and decisive actions are needed. They always start when their plans demand so and don't wait for a "perfect time" to start, as "perfect time" may not always be determined easily.

Much has been written on what it takes to win the game of life. A lifetime of experience says it's not as complicated as most people make it. Here's my list. Take what you want.
1. You can't succeed alone. Every story of success is a story of people working together, each contributing their own unique talents, skillsets and abilities. Do what you do best. And let others fill in the gaps.
2. Perseverance always wins. You can't fail if you don't quit. Find yet another way to make it work. Whatever *it* is for you. As Winston Churchill said in Britain's darkest hour, "Never, never, never give up."
3. Take time from your busi-ness every day - even if only 10 or 15 minutes - to center yourself. Some call it meditation. It'll make you more effective and you'll accomplish much more.
4. If you don't like where you are today, don't expect tomorrow to be any different without change. Change your attitude, your priorities, your activities. Change from being rea-c-tive to being c-rea-tive.
5. You are a product of your thoughts. It's true that 'thoughts are things'. Whatever you think about most of the time is what you create in your life. Hint: If you want more than you think you have now, don't *ever* give energy to thoughts of lack.
6. You always receive what you give. Consequently, if you want help, be helpful. If you want honest relationships, be truthful. If you want success, help others get what they want. If you want love, be loving. The corollary is that you always find what you're looking for.
7. Life really is like a movie. You write the script. You're the star, director & critic. And like a movie, it ends. What's important in life is not just the journey, but the quality of the journey. That's why it's important to make every day the best it can be, 'cuz now is all you have.
What the heck. You might as well enjoy life. None of us are gettin' out alive.

I love the golden hour. The first hour of the day.  It is a magical time. I can accomplish so many things. My energy and creativity are at their high point.

I find that getting up early sets to tone for the perfect day. Start well - end well.

6 Reasons I love to wake up early:

1 - I am competitive and feel that it gives me a competitive advantage. Many people oversleep. I do not. So I am able to win.

2 - I like to work out first thing in the morning.  Working out adds to my "waking up".  And being in shape supports my goals.

3 - Momentum. Waking early gives me high momentum. If I start the day productive, I tend to continue that way.

4 - It is quiet and I get few interruptions early in the morning so I can get lots more done. It also allows "private" time to reflect.

5 - I guard the time knowing it is precious high creativity time. I try to avoid mundane tasks and save the time for working out or work that requires high creativity (like writing this article)

6 - I like to do the worst thing first thing. If I get up early, I am able to knock off one of the tasks I want to get done. This habit has helped me greatly in my success.

Some tricks I use to help me get up early:

1 - Go to bed early. Ok - so I am not real good on this one but I certainly find this one helps.

2 - I sometimes drink a tall glass of water before I go to bed. This causes me to wake early.

3 - I leave the window blinds open a crack. I love waking to natural light.

4 - Resolve. I tell myself the night before I will wake up early. I even set in my mind what time that will be. I rarely set an alarm clock.

5 - When I wake up, I get up. No point in lying in bed.

Waking up early is one of my success habits. We are the product of what we repeatedly do and rising early is one habit worth cultivating.

Enjoy the golden hour!

Your subconscious mind is a VERY powerful tool. What it believes can override your conscious and program you for either success or failure. For this reason, we must program our subconscious mind with positive beliefs.
If you are constantly trying to achieve a goal, but fail, then your subconscious is probably blocking you. In the first years of our life our brainwaves are in the theta state, the super-learning state. Because of this the beliefs of our parents often sink into our subconscious mind. The negative beliefs that are holding us back in our subconscious must be erased and fixed.
One way to do this is with affirmations. First, choose a positive belief you would like to imprint. For example, "I am the perfect weight". Here are some rules to follow:
1. It MUST be in the PRESENT TENSE
2. It MUST be POSITIVE. Don't say "I am NOT overweight". Rather, say "I am the perfect weight."

Then take the affirmation you just made, and repeat it to yourself throughout the day. Also, repeat a couple times after waking up and before falling asleep. I find affirmations to be most beneficial when I am trying to lay positive programming into my mind rather than erase negative programming.
Another way to do this is through subliminal messaging. Subliminal messaging has proven to be such a powerful tool that it was BANNED in advertising in the US. Use a computer software such as Subliminal Blaster. These software will flash affirmations for a split second, in various places on the screen. You can then leave it running while you work. I enjoy the many pre-programmed categories these software come with, as they work great for me.
Hopefully these tips will help you achieve your goals, make your life better, and program your subconscious mind

"Visualization may be the most underutilized success tool that you possess."
Jack Canfield, best-selling author of Success Principles

This was demonstrated in a dramatic fashion when Y.E. Yang defeated Tiger Woods to become Asia's first major winner at the USA PGA Championship in Hazeltine.
Until now, Tiger Woods has never failed to win from the front in his 14 major victories. And so Yang's victory which sees him leapfrog from 110 in the world to 34 is all the more remarkable and he attributes his victory to being prepared for just the type of circumstance that lead to his victory.
Even Albert Einstein recognized the power of visualization or imagination. Athletes have been practicing this technique for years because it has been scientifically proven that when you visualize your body has the same biochemical reactions and the same muscle fibres are activated as if you were experiencing an event for real.
Your mind doesn't differentiate between what is imagined and what is real.
This can prove to be your undoing because many people imagine or visualize what they don't want but when you visualize what you truly want, this tool is powerful indeed. And the more intensely you visualize, the more you involve your senses the more real your visualization will seem. It's not just what you see but it's what you feel that's key.
So, for instance, you can visualize yourself at peak performance while in a high-pressure environment and this is what Y.E. Yang did:
"I've visualized this quite a few times - playing against the best player in the history of golf, playing with him in the final round in a major championship."
Y.E. Yang noticed how many golfers seem to choke when placed in a similar position. He realized that to emerge victorious from such an encounter that he would have to first of all remain calm and focused. But he also needed something else. He not only needed to control his emotions he needed to control his actions and have at his disposal a range of plays he could make in such a situation.
"When I was at home or at a tournament watching Tiger in the clubhouse, I'd usually try to visualize and try to bring up a mock strategy on how to win if I ever played against Tiger."
Y.E. Yang was thinking like a chest player or even a fighter pilot. Whatever situation was thrown at him he was going to be ready and if it was a situation he had actually visualized he would have dreamt up enough other strategic moves that he would easily be able to come up with the appropriate play while maintaining his composure. And so on this historic occasion Y.E. Yang found his authentic swing to win the day.
However, visualization is not merely for athletes. It's a tool used by all peak performers.
"I've discovered that numerous peak performers use the skill of mental rehearsal of visualization. They mentally run through important events before they happen."
Charles Garfield

And it's a tool that can be and should be used by you if you truly wish to learn how to turn on peak performance at will.

1. PASSION.
Have you ever met, seen, or heard of anyone who was successful in a field that they didn't like? And if you have, I assure you that they are the exception rather than the rule. Almost always the successful person has a fire in their belly about what they are pursuing. It's almost like their job found them. So, find your passion, and pursue itwith passion.
2. WORK HARD
Most of them are not working hard at all, but playing hard. There is an old saying "Find a job that you love to do, and you wont work a day in your life". It is much easier to work hard at something that you enjoy doing. It helps so much to make the less enjoyable parts more tolerable if the rest of the time you are having fun. But hard work is a definite requirement. So, be prepared to work. And be prepared to push yourself hard as well.
3. GET GOOD AT IT
This really isn't anything surprising, lets be honest. The most successful people in any field are nearly always experts in that field. And becoming an expert isn't that hard. If you were to pick a subject that fired you up and just read for an hour or 2 a day, in a year or so you could be at or approaching expert status. Also remember that, to many people, an expert is simply someone who knows more about a particular subject than they do. Not necessarily someone who knows more than everyone else as well. So, set to work becoming an expert.
4. PRECISE FOCUS
This is another way of saying "defined goals". Or perhaps "specific intent". Successful people have a very clear idea of where they are going, and how they are going to get there. They also know where they are on their journey as well, and where they have come from. For you to do the same, take the time to work out exactly what you want. Very few people will. Most people will go through their whole life never once deciding exactly what they want. If you can do this then you put yourself ahead of 95% of the rest of the world. Then, to keep going, review this list of goals on a daily basis. A good way to do this is to re-write them daily.
5. PERSISTENCE
Keep on keeping on. Successful people don't stop trying. Again, this is no real surprise, is it? There are numerous obstacles in everyone's way, and the fact of the matter is that you will probably fail many times before you eventually succeed. This is true for everybody. It is only by holding on like a dog with a bone that you can hope to get to the end. So, all you have to do is to keep on keeping on.
